The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: Alter on my Wall

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: Alter on my Wall
Dear Sweet Spirit,

We all contain some sort of alter in our house.
A dresser with pictures of those we love.
A desk with pictures of those we have lost.

Things gather in a particular place and with no reason in our heart, they settle and become permanent.
We collect that which looks beautiful to us.
We purchase the most expensive statues of Saints and Gods, looking to them for resolution.

My alter started simple.
I had to hide who I was becoming.
Things placed in the open, with crystals scattered in different cupboards, candles set with no intention, I began to build my alter to the Universe.

Now I have two alters.
One for the living and one for the dead.
Pictures of those who have passed, Saint Death, an offering of fresh flowers, crystals, and things remembered.
They represent my ancestors.
Those who dwelled in the trees and mountains.
Those who whisper to me in the darkest nights of my life.
They reveal to me an answer.

The alter of life sits in my office.
It represents those who are still walking this planet.
Who bring joy to my heart even though they may live miles away.
Believe me when I say, I miss them every fucking day.
It contains pictures of living people, crystals that represent life, my wand, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Feather Fans for smudging.

Which do I feel connected to?

The alter of death calls to me more than the living, now that I am older.
My power has evolved, and most of the time all that is needed is a picture of a person to keep them safe from harm.
They will sit on the alter until I feel that they are okay.
Most of the time they sit on the alter of living for a few years, because they are always evolving.
The alter of the living is there to help those that I love in their spiritual growth.

Do we need an alter?

Not really, but spirit will lead us to build something that resembles one.
We may find our dresser and shelves filled with crystals that speak to us when they wish to be moved, or pictures of those who have passed on one side of the room, while those who are living are on the other.

The Universe has a way of leading us back to the truth.
We turn to our ancestors and try to connect through the items that are from the past.
We seek an answer to this thing called life.

Why should we have an alter?

To keep us connected to our soul purpose.
To help us understand the truth when we wish to only understand the lie.
To open up a line of communication with those who have passed.
To keep us humble.

Maybe it is all just in my mind, that the alter has some sort of power, when really the alter is within us.
We shape and form it into this reality, so that we can feel connected to the things we cannot see.
Like the High Priestess card, things unseen are taking place behind the curtains.

We leave it up to the spirits to take care of the obstacles in our way when times get tough.
The alter is our expression of love towards the Universe, acknowledging that there is something bigger out there, and that the vastness of the Universe is also within the vessel we call a body.
We will do what we want in the end, but know what we create alters in every place we inhabit.

With all my love,
Aaron

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: Leaving it all Behind

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: Leaving it all Behind
Dear Sweet Spirit,

There are moments we will find our self, stuck in a cycle.
As if we are doing things out of the greater good of love, and we find our spirit in shambles.
We look to the South for inspiration.
An opportunity of some sort, that will carry us to the finish line, unscathed and intact.
We wish for something more to happen.
A ray of hope that shines down on us to reveal the secret truth.
Sometimes we have to just throw our hands up in the air and say “fuck it”.
Get rid of it all.
Get rid of old things that do not serve us.
Throw those tiny figurines away that are broken and damaged.
Hit the reset button.
Start fresh.

When we find our self in a cycle of shadow, we move through things with no passion or heart involved. We do things to satisfy our yearning of commitment.
We repeat things to try to understand, but sometimes we hold on to them even after the lesson is learned.

When I was younger, I would hold on to every action and reaction created by someone’s own disbelief of self worth.
I would try to make truth out of a disagreement.
I would try to correct the wrong that was done, even if it did not happen because of my own actions.
The hurt and pain would swim at the surface of my spiritual journey, calling out for help, flailing arms to get my attention, and the Ego would listen.
It would state to me that the memory needed to be saved, when really it did not.
I had to learn to let go of things that were familiar.

That is why the Devil card kept coming up in my readings when I first started my spiritual journey.
I had to deal with the Ego part of my life.
The one that tells us we are not worthy of good.

Sometimes we must leave familiar things behind, to understand what they really mean within our life.
To analyze the very essence of what they represented.
Sometimes we must leave and just say forget all of it, so that we can appreciate what we really had in the first place.
Sometimes we must leave home several times, so that we can understand where home really is.

It is okay.
Spirit leaves the porch light on, so that when we do return, we feel accepted.
We feel worthy.
Spirit understands that things must be broken down.
Like The Tower card, we must break elements of our environment down to a simple form.
To return to the beginning.
To find our true self within the dirt and rubble.
To learn about rebuilding with a solid foundation.

With all my love,
Aaron

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: We are Always Healing
Dear Sweet Spirit,

As I pull the cards out of the cloth they are kept in, I reflect on my past.
Actions taken with no thought or reason.
I jumped into the great unknown and landed on my two feet.

I think you will find yourself landing on your own two feet very soon.
We never truly heal from the pain of loss and expansion.
Our bones ache.
We are tired.

We ask Spirit for peace and understanding.
We ask Spirit to know.

Why must people enter into our life, demolish what we have created, and leave?
To break every piece of love within our heart.
To cause us to cry.

Why does loss happen?
Why do we die?

I write to you with some advice.

When all of the pain and sorrow has left our body, we begin to heal, but we truly never find wholeness again within the memories of the past.
We are forever changed and our spirit evolves, becoming brighter than before.
We level up.
The healing is still taking place as memories jump into our mind.
We begin to evaluate our words and actions.

Why did I say that?
Why did I not do this instead?

We start to make changes in the memory, hoping that the outcome will not be the same, but we find that it plays out exactly as we remember it.
Nothing changes.
The healing is still taking place on the wound that was placed on our spiritual heart.

Like the card Temperance, we begin to find that through creativity, we become whole again.

Time marches forward and we forget.
Years pass and we do not recall the memory as much.
Until one day it creeps up on us.
It pounces and scratches at our thoughts.
We begin to remember and the scar now becomes a fresh wound.
We are stronger though.
We are wise.

We take what is left behind and love the fucking shit out of it, for we know it is just the past trying to keep us from being whole.

As you can see the healing never really ends.
It lingers because Spirit knows that we will be faced with different circumstances, but with the same outcome as the past.
We must heal again but in a different place and time.

This allows us to process the feelings at a faster rate.
We leave it behind us.
We forgive.
It gets easier to speak about the pain and sorrow with others and as connections are made on a spiritual level, we start to let it go.

With all my love,
Aaron

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: To Spend or Not to Spend ?

The Road to Being a Spiritual Tarot Reader: To Spend or Not to Spend?
Dear Sweet Spirit,

I believe that some information should be free.
That there should be a community where those who cannot afford, and are wanting to grow, will find all the information they need.
Information can be found in a book, but the one thing that I was missing while learning, was a group to practice with.

Should we spend a lot of money to grow spiritually?
Not really.
Growth takes place when we move and expand.
If we choose to spend our money on a class or Meetup, then understand that you are putting that energy towards something that will benefit us.

Our spiritual journey should flow and propel us forward into the next adventure.
We should be asking, our self, valuable questions in regards to what we spend our time and money on.
Is there a class outline explaining what will be covered?
Does this teacher sound like a good fit for us?
Are they transparent?

One should be curious as to what will take place during the class.
Any great teacher will be more than willing to answer a question, in regards to their class.
Actually, the teacher should be ready for questions if they are teaching a subject they are passionate about.

If it is a Meetup that we want to attend, then the group organizer should be willing to answer any questions in regards to what will happen during the gathering.

I have found that being very transparent, with what is being covered, helped others decide if it is a group they are willing to attend and sit two hours through.

If our spirit just feels that a certain class will bring us more information, and we can afford it, then take the class and have an open mind.
Spirit is leading us to new information, new friends, or validation that this is where we are to be at this very moment.

If we have doubt and feel uncomfortable, then do not go.
Wait.
Look for another group that calls to us.

Never feel that we will not get what is needed to advance, if we can’t afford this certain healing class or tarot meetup.

Always remember that everything happens for a reason.
Maybe it is not the right time for us to advance.
We are always evolving but there are moments that we have to reflect on what was learned.
Sometimes we have to return  home to rest and relax, meaning we are not able to handle the information that will be supplied to us at the class.

Do not worry about what we may have missed out on, but look forward to what will come our way in the future.

Safe travel,
Aaron

Things I Experienced when Starting to Develop my Psychic Abilities: Sleep Paralysis, Dark Spirits, Nightmares, and Sleeping on the Job

Hello Beautiful People,

I decided to write about what I experienced when I started to develop my psychic abilities. A lot happened but I am picking just a handful of items to address at this time and will be broken up into three entries. This is the third entry for this series. If you missed the other two here are the links to them:

Psychic Vampires, energy drainers, and needy people, oh my!
Anxiety around crowds, psychic poisoning, and being a bitch.

*Disclaimer*
This is information that I have found to help me on my spiritual path. I do not claim any of this information to be my own techniques or lessons. I have given you a reference of books in order for you to read and make a decision for yourself. I am not claiming that this applies to every person or situation. Please read with an open heart and willing to find an answer on your own through the power of your own experience.

Sleep paralysis, dark spirits, nightmares, and sleeping on the job.

There will come a time when you will wake up after a good night sleep and feel as if you ran a marathon. I could not figure out why this was happening when I first started on my journey. I would wake up groggy and feeling out of sync. Well, I found out from a podcast called “The Psychic Teachers”, after many years of wondering, that there are some Lightworkers who go out while they sleep and aid other people spiritually. The advice they gave was to simply ask your spirit guides/angel/spirits to maybe back off a little and only do it every so often. I tried it and guess what? It worked! So my advice comes from the message of someone else named Samantha Fey.

Understand that not every person is a Nightworker. A lot of the times people have restless nights due to spirits trying to speak to us and give us messages. This leads me into sleep paralysis. So many times I would feel as if something, or someone, was holding me down. I worked through this by stating, to the entity, that I am stronger than they are, or casting the spirit out of my house, and protecting the hell out of my room. I have come to find out by my spiritual teacher that this is simply a spirit trying to talk to you, and since we are not aware at the time of sleep, we can have the experience of sleep paralysis.
Eventually when I started to work with the spirits, and really build a relationship with them, the experiences got to be less and less. The big thing to remember is to work through it. Do not be afraid to talk to the spirits and say “Hey! Leave me alone” or “Can you talk to me when I am awake”. Do not be afraid to set boundaries with the spirit world or to set boundaries on your psychic abilities. You are barely starting out, and with every new skill, you have to practice in a safe environment.

When it comes to nightmares, I had to learn to process the information being given. I had to really meditate on what the symbols and signs meant within the dream. A nightmare is simply a bad dream, or rather, a dream that is showing us what we choose to not face in our everyday life and in sleep.

My advice is simple:
analyze what is being presented to you and make sure you are constantly working on your spiritual practice.

Whew.
I am nearly done with this entry. One last item to address.
Dark spirits.
Are they really dark?
Well there can be some nasties that hang around when new found power is being used or growing. They like to see what all the hub bub is and why there is so much light where there was none before. When I started to read “The Inner Temple of Witchcraft” by Christopher Penczak, he explained why there are dark energies that linger around a new witch.

He basically states that with new found power the light becomes brighter, in time the little nasties fade away, leaving the new witch alone as she develops her gift. I am stating the same thing to you. When you first start out on your psychic ability journey, you will find that there may be spirits that linger around or try to offset you by playing tricks and such. Remember to ask them to leave you alone nicely and if that doesn’t work then you have every right to say “Get the fuck out of my house!”
I would definitely set up wards around your house (which Christopher Penczak teaches in his book) and smudge the shit out of it.
There is nothing in the rule book that states you have to put up with mischievous spirits. Also call in your spirit guides to protect you and watch over you.

I have been there. I was afraid at one time and almost gave up on my spiritual journey because of weird things that were happening. Without a teacher or another person to say “Hey that has happened to me too and this is how I dealt with it”, our journey can be dark and scary. It will send you into defense mode and you may want to just give it up.
Do not give up on your gifts!
Keep going and know that you have every right to set boundaries with the spirit world.

Until next time.
Blessed Be,
Aaron

Hello Beautiful People.

Here is the second entry in this three part series. Enjoy.

I have given you a reference of books in order for you to read and make a decision for yourself. I am not claiming that this applies to every person or situation. Anxiety around crowds, psychic poisoning, and being a bitch.

Yes, even spiritual teachers and beings can be a “Bitch” sometimes. It happens to the best of us. We get into our funky moods and rather than process the energy, and lesson around us, we take it out on others. Do not worry. This happens less and less as you start to process your own crap and understand that it happens when we allow other people’s problems to become our problem.

Anxiety was my real first issue when I started out on my spiritual journey. I did not like crowds. I did not know how to process the information that was being psychically sent to me through the power of other people. I did not know how to turn myself “off”. I really had to research techniques that would aid me with this problem.
  • Clear your Chakras
  • Ground and center your self
  • Meditate
  • Work on your own crap
  • Mentally protect myself with a bubble of white light
Most of the techniques were found in Mya Om’s book “Energy Essentials for Witches and Spellcasters” and Doreen Virtues book “The Angel Therapy Handbook”.
Most of the time feeling anxiety in crowds is due to being over charged. You are taking in all this information and energy from other people and your body and spirit does not know how to release it in a positive way. A lot of times I simply had to give that energy back into the Earth. This is very helpful after reading for multiple people at a Psychic Fair or party.
Which leads me into the topic of psychic poisoning.

Yes this happens. You can take on so much energy that it makes you sick. So sick that you will develop flu like symptoms. When you devote all your time and energy in reading cards, using your psychic abilities, or doing magic, it can lead you to over exhausting or over charging yourself. How did I tackle this? Of course every good spiritual person wants to help as many people as they can but there is a limit. I had to find my limit of people I could read in a day and in a week. I could not go over that limit without suffering some crap consequences.

Now I am not saying that you will never be able to pass the limit that was set in the beginning. I am simply saying that it is best to find that magic number and stick to it for a while. Build up your spiritual chops. Try to listen to your body and spirit and see if you should go on. Most of the time your spirit guides will advise you that it is time to take on more clients or to back down.

Number one rule in all of this spiritual growth stuff is:
Take care of your wonderful self!

By doing this you will be able to receive information from the spirit/energy world and give clearer and precise answers to the questions being asked. If you are fully charged and up and running at excellent speed then the connection to the energy around you will be clear as well.

Until next time.
Blessed Be,
Aaron

Things I Experienced when Starting to Develop my Psychic Abilities

Hello Beautiful People.
I decided to write about what I experienced when I started to develop my psychic abilities. A lot happened but I am picking just a handful of items to address at this time and will be broken up into three entries.

Psychic Vampires, energy drainers, and needy people, oh my!

Geez. Where to start with this one.
Have you ever had a meeting with someone and after the talk you felt drained and tired?
Did they take more from the conversation than just sound advice?
Do you ever avoid a certain person because you do not want to spend hours talking about how awful their life is?
Did you answer yes to any of the questions?

This leads me to the next question.
Are there psychic vampires?

Well, there is a certain breed of people that have the ability to suck energy from their surroundings. I have found that a majority of them are people who do not know that they are light workers and try to subdue their psychic abilities with other means (drugs, sex, food, and such). Could you call them addicts? Maybe. They are just people with a different set of psychic skills. Rather than give energy to others to heal and protect, they pull from the energy around them to give them a sense of protection and natural high. You will usually find this from people who are needy in nature, wanting attention (bad or good), who have developed a certain behavior that gets them what they want, which is to be noticed.

How did I handle this sort of person?
I usually had to protect myself from them (keeping a distance, advising them on how to dim that part of their ability, or setting up sacred space before interacting with them) and also take care of myself afterwards by shaking off the excess energy or grounding and centering.

Can they be needy?
Yup.
They will suck the life right out of you if you let them. The real lesson to remember here is compassion. Compassion for the path they are choosing to walk. They are not ready or willing to spiritually grow but are willing to use their abilities to their advantage.

I had to really turn to my healing abilities of Reiki and Chakra healing.
I had to close myself off from their energy sucking ability or reflect so much energy to them that they would spiritually exhaust their self out. Most of the time they would not want to be around me because I would eventually be too much energy for them or not enough. They will go where the power is. It is in their nature.

I am not stating that they are bad or anything. They simply are not ready to move forward with their wonderful spiritual gifts and in turn you are not ready to supply them with the energy needed to transform and propel them in the right direction. Well, at least not yet.

Until next time.
Blessed Be,
Aaron

P.S. Here is where I learned the "Grounding and Centering" technique by Mya Om
